How to perform Alternate EKG Leads

Get right-sided leads anytime there are inferior or septal abnormalities. Get posterior leads if there are signs of posterior MI in the septal leads.

Right Sided

Move lead V3 to the location V3R, Move lead V4 to the location V4R in the picture above. Run the 12 lead. On the 12 lead, right right-sided at the top, then next to V3 and V4, write an "R"

Take Leads V5 and move it to location V8 and move V6 to V9.

Write Posterior leads on top of the 12 lead and cross out V5 and write V8, cross out V6 and write V9

You can see that right sided and posterior leads can be obtained simultaneously.
