This is the Level One Pressure Infusion Device. It is used to rapidly infused fluids/blood products and can also warm up the fluids/products to body temperature. It is usually located next to bay 2 in the trauma room Unlike a pressure bag, it provides continuous pressure of 300 mm HG no matter how little fluid is left in the bag. If you're going to infuse fluids, you MUST GET ALL THE AIR OUT or it will be infused and cause an air embolism. The same is true for blood products but they usuallly have no air. |

The tubing is located on the shelf in trauma bay 2. |

This is what the tubing looks like. The filter removes air (but only works for minimal amounts). |

You must flush all the air out of the fluid bags and the tubing before use. Spike the fluid bag and flush out the air just like a regular IV. If you're only using one of the chambers, you MUST close the other one or the pressurized fluid will flood out of the other spike. |

After you put the fluids in the compartments and MAKE SURE THERE IS NO AIR IN THE TUBING OR FLUID/BLOOD BAG, turn on the pressure. |

The pressure dial will turn to indicate compartment pressure. |

This is what your setting would look like at the end. In this case, I'm running only 1 fluid bag as the right tubing is clipped. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE remember to remove all air from fluid/blood product bag and tubing. You will cause an air embolism if you don't. |
